As
APC plots to control more oil-producing states
Delta APC governorship candidate, O’tega Emerhor |
The political battle between the outgoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the incoming All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted to Delta State where the opposition is currently making frantic effort to have an APC governor.
The
ploy by the opposition party is to ensure that it retains the administration of
more oil producing states in the coming administration.
Though the duo of the APC and PDP national publicity secretaries were not on
hand to react to the development as at press time, reliable THISDAY sources
have it that both parties are mobilising considerable financial recourses to
the oil rich state ahead of the governorship election.
“Two
days ago, they moved a lot of money into Delta State. The idea is to use the
Urhobo connection. The Urhobo produces the highest number of votes – 800,000
votes. The APC leaders are feeling that if they don’t have one of the oil
producing states, the government will not be strong,” he said.
According
to the sources, the APC is working to get a collaboration between its
candidate, O’tega Emerhor and the Labour Party candidate, Chief Great
Ogboru, as a way of maximising Urhobo vote for its electoral victory in Delta
State.
Sources
within the PDP have also hinted that the party is aware of the APC move and his
making moves to ensure that the party consolidates its hold on the South-south
and South-east.
