''COURT TERMINATES HEARING ON PRESIDENT ELECT MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S
ELIGIBILITY SUIT''
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has terminated further
hearing on two separate suits challenging the eligibility of president elect
Muhammdu Buhari in the recently concluded presidential election.
Presiding judge Justice Ademola Adeniyi struck out the suits after
they were withdrawn by the plaintiffs Chukwunweike Okafor and Max Okafor
through separate notices of discontinuance they filed before the high court.
The plaintiffs, who spoke through their respective lawyers, Chief
Mike Ozehkome, SAN, and Dr. Chike Amobi, said they decided to withdraw the
matter in order to allow the President-elect, General Buhari, to effectively
run the affairs of the nation without distractions.
The plaintiffs in their suits claimed that Buhari’s failure to
submit his certificate of academic qualifications contravened relevant sections
of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act, 2010.
